"Moving Through a Land That Sets Its Own Rhythm"
7-14 August 2028

This journey begins in Kyrgyzstan, a country where the landscape gradually unfolds through movement, distance, and changing terrain.

Surrounded by the vast ranges of the Tian Shan Mountains, the route moves from the calm atmosphere of Bishkek into the remote expanses of the Naryn Region, where wide valleys, high mountain passes, and open horizons begin to dominate the experience.

From there, the expedition continues deeper into the wilderness toward Kok-Kiya Valley and Kel-Suu Lake—hidden behind rugged terrain and surrounded by towering cliffs that create one of the country’s most dramatic alpine landscapes.

As the journey progresses, the scenery slowly transforms once again. The route leaves the remote highlands behind and opens toward the broader landscapes surrounding Issyk-Kul Lake, where canyons, red rock formations, eagle hunters, and vast valleys create a constantly changing visual atmosphere.

Some sections follow smooth roads, while others require traveling by ex-Soviet military truck through rough terrain where regular access disappears entirely. These transitions are not interruptions to the journey—they are part of what defines it.

Designed for photographers of all levels, the expedition focuses on experiencing Kyrgyzstan through light, atmosphere, culture, and landscape—moving at a pace that allows each location to unfold naturally.

More than simply traveling between destinations, this is a journey through a country where the rhythm of nature still shapes the experience itself.

Day 1 — Arrival in Bishkek

You arrive in Bishkek, a city that feels calm from the very beginning. There’s no overwhelming rush, no intense pace—just wide streets, rows of trees, and the distant outline of the Tian Shan Mountains quietly framing the horizon.

The air feels different here, a mix of city life and something closer to nature. Even without leaving the capital, you can already sense how connected everything is to the landscapes beyond it.

Participants may arrive on any flight scheduled for this date and make their own way to the agreed hotel in Bishkek, which will serve as the official meeting point for the journey.

The day moves gently. After arriving and settling in, you begin to meet the rest of the group, easing into the rhythm of the expedition. Conversations are light, introductions simple, and there’s a shared sense that this is only the beginning of something much bigger.

As you move through the city, Bishkek reveals itself in subtle ways—small local restaurants, Soviet-era architecture, and a lifestyle that feels unhurried. It doesn’t try to impress, but that’s exactly what makes it interesting.

This first day isn’t about doing much. It’s about arriving, adjusting, and letting the pace slow down before the journey moves far beyond the city—into landscapes where everything feels wider, quieter, and more remote.

Day 2 — Into the Vastness of Naryn

The journey begins as you leave Bishkek and head toward the Naryn Region, gradually moving deeper into the mountainous landscapes of central Kyrgyzstan.

After several hours on the road, you arrive in the city of Naryn, where the atmosphere already feels noticeably different—cooler air, higher elevation, and mountains becoming increasingly dominant across the horizon. After a short break and lunch, the expedition continues toward a more remote area.

The road begins to follow wide valleys and mountain contours, with fewer villages and signs of settlement along the way. As the landscape opens up, the sense of isolation and scale becomes more apparent.

By late afternoon, you arrive at Kok-Kiya Valley near the Kel-Suu River for a sunset photography session. Surrounded by distant mountain ranges and open terrain, the river creates natural reflections and foreground elements that shift beautifully under the soft evening light.

The night is spent in a traditional yurt camp, offering a quiet and immersive experience surrounded by the vast landscapes of the valley.

Accommodation: Yurt Camp in Kok-Kiya Valley

Day 3 — Into the Hidden Lake Beyond the Valley

The morning begins in Kok-Kiya Valley, surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks and wide open terrain. Sunrise reveals a softer atmosphere across the valley, creating an ideal setting for photography.

The session focuses not only on the landscape itself, but also on the relationship between local Kyrgyz life and the surrounding environment. Horses, traditional yurts, and daily activities create authentic visual moments within the scale of the mountains.

Later in the day, the journey continues deeper into the region. Using an ex-Soviet military truck, participants travel further into rugged terrain toward Kel-Suu Lake.

At around 2,400 meters above sea level, Kel-Suu feels hidden within the mountains—enclosed by steep cliffs and dramatic rock walls that create an entirely different atmosphere from the openness of Kok-Kiya Valley.

The remainder of the day is spent exploring the lake and photographing its constantly changing conditions, reflections, and textures.

Accommodation: Yurt Camp near Kel-Suu Lake

Day 4 — Life of the Local Horse Herders

The day begins around Kel-Suu Lake, where local horse herders move quietly across the landscape beneath towering mountain backdrops. These moments offer an authentic glimpse into the nomadic lifestyle that still shapes life in this remote region.

The pace remains relaxed throughout the morning, allowing time to continue photographing both the landscape and the cultural elements surrounding it.

After lunch, the expedition begins the return journey toward Naryn. As the route retraces through the mountain valleys, the scenery gradually shifts from remote wilderness back toward more connected settlements.

By afternoon, you arrive once again in the city of Naryn, surrounded by steep mountain terrain and the flowing Naryn River.

Accommodation: Hotel in Naryn

Day 5 — Toward the Open Landscapes of Issyk-Kul

The morning begins in Naryn before continuing the journey toward Issyk-Kul Lake, one of the largest alpine lakes in the world.

As the route progresses, the landscapes begin to open significantly. The mountain valleys slowly transition into broader horizons, creating a completely different atmosphere from the previous days in the highlands of Naryn.

Along the way, there will be time to rest and stop for lunch before arriving at Aksay Canyon for a sunset photography session. The canyon’s layered rock formations, winding textures, and dry terrain create strong natural compositions shaped by erosion over time.

As evening settles across the canyon, the warm tones of the landscape become especially striking under the changing light.

Day 6 — Traditions and Red Rock Landscapes

The day begins with a cultural photography session featuring a local eagle hunter—one of Kyrgyzstan’s most iconic traditions passed down through generations.

The connection between hunter, eagle, and landscape creates a powerful visual atmosphere that reflects the region’s deep relationship with nature and nomadic heritage.

From there, the expedition continues toward Fairy Tale Canyon, known for its sculpted rock formations and surreal natural shapes formed by wind and erosion over centuries.

Later, the journey moves onward to Jeti-Oguz Valley, where dramatic red rock formations rise against the surrounding greenery and distant mountains. Nearby, the landscapes around Jeti-Oguz Peak offer wide open views and layered scenery ideal for photography.

By evening, the expedition arrives in Karakol—a quiet town on the eastern side of Issyk-Kul Lake known for its mountain surroundings and relaxed atmosphere.

Accommodation: Hotel in Karakol

Day 7 — Where the Journey Comes Full Circle

The final full day of the expedition begins early with a sunrise photography session at Turgen Valley. The landscape here feels calm and expansive, with open terrain and distant mountain ranges slowly illuminated by the first morning light.

After the session, the group returns to Karakol for breakfast and a short rest before beginning the journey back toward Bishkek.

The drive follows parts of Issyk-Kul Lake once again, offering final views of the landscapes that have shaped the journey—from mountain valleys and alpine lakes to open grasslands and remote roads.

By evening, participants arrive back in Bishkek, bringing the expedition gradually back to where it first began.

Accommodation: Hotel in Bishkek
